I’m a writer and former adjunct professor in the Journalism Program at the University at Albany (SUNY), teaching courses in news and reporting, crisis communications, and public relations writing since 2008. I served as a senior manager in corporate communications and media relations at Verizon for almost 25 years. Before that I was a daily newspaper reporter in Springfield, Mass. I fly airplanes as a hobby and I consult on communications and crisis communications, in addition to pursuing my own writing (Here’s a link to my author page on Amazon.com). In 2018 I published my first book, about my long solo drive down U.S. Route 1 from northern Maine to Key West. I published a second book, a historical fiction novel, in 2021. I’m a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My passions include following science advances, environmental issues, and sports. One of my current passions is science writing.
Professional writing and communications services: In addition to my teaching, freelance science writing, and book projects, I offer a range of consulting/writing services. I work with clients on crisis communications, public relations, strategic communications planning, and finding ways to translate complex, challenging issues/topics into language understandable by wide demographics. I provide specific communications tools such as: news releases, speeches, social media posts and strategies, online digital content, blogging, issue briefs, senior-level counsel, and public presentation efforts that include tools like PowerPoint. Most of all, I’m a patient listener. Talk to me about your objectives and, together, we’ll find a way to achieve them.
If you want to contact me about these services or just to talk about the content elsewhere on this site, I’d love to hear from you. Email me.
