Writers like to write. We can’t help ourselves. When I’m not teaching or otherwise occupied by a specific project, I write about whatever is on my mind. I try to convince my students in the Journalism Program at the University at Albany to do the same by starting their own blogs where they can ruminate on whatever topic(s) they choose. I tell them it’s free, and fun. I started my own blog (on this site’s home page) back in 2014 and I never stopped. Writers also like to see some of what they write get published. In addition to my first book (under “Books” in the menu above), my writing is published in various venues. I love writing Op Eds that are selected to be printed in daily newspapers. I also enjoy freelancing on science and other topics.
On this page, I’ve posted a range of these articles that have been published. I’ll add more as they appear. Feel free to write to me with questions or comments, but I hope you enjoy them. I’ve also added a few news media reports about my 2018 book on driving U.S. Route 1.
